‘Sorry I Tased You!’ Cake Doesn’t Go Over As Well As You Might Think

An Escambia County deputy is now the defendant in a civil lawsuit brought against a woman he allegedly tased by accident and then tried to mend fences through the glorious gifts of cake and sugar frosting.

Stephanie Byron brought suit against Deputy Michael Wohlers, alleging that Wohlers “used excessive force … violated her civil rights, committed battery … and caused her hardships, including physical injuries, monetary loss, medical expenses, humiliation and mental anguish,” PNJ reports. Wohlers and his attorney have denied the allegations, but they haven’t really done a good job yet of explaining that cake.

We know what you’re thinking, Floridians … how could this ungrateful woman be suing when she got a free dessert out of the deal? It’s unusual, we must attest, but you just never know how some people are going to take being electrocuted by a man in a badge.
