Since America signed up with the Mass Shooting-of-the-Month Club a couple of decades ago, people have gotten more and more on-edge about loud explosive noises in public. It was only a matter of time before some false alarm caused all hell to break loose, and that’s exactly what happened at The Florida Mall in Orlando on Thursday, Aug. 25.
Being fair to those responsible, an announcement was made over the PA prior to a “balloon test” for the opening of Fat One’s, *NSYNC star Joey Fatone’s new restaurant. Didn’t seem to matter, though. A series of six large balloons were popped simultaneously, and the fire alarm went off. Chaos ensued. People charged out of the mall, running over each other in the process and resulting in nine injuries ranging from “a twisted knee to a head injury,” according to News 6.
We suppose the Fat One should get a pass for this. Still, launching such an operation in the middle of the day in a busy mall just a few miles from the Pulse nightclub probably wasn’t the best idea. But then, neither was *NSYNC.
